Q: What weapons are available in Far Cry?
A: The following weapons can be found throughout Far Cry:

Machete: A big jungle knife, useful in close-range combat. Extremely deadly when used in close proximity to an enemy.

Wrench: A big mechanic's wrench.

Falcon .357: Massive-caliber semi-automatic handgun with removable silencer.

Jackhammer Shotgun: Semi-automatic shotgun. Perfect for clearing corridors or tight indoor spaces.

P90 SMG: Modern SMG, designed for a high volume of fire in a light and quick-loading weapon.

MP5 SMG: Compared to the P90 submachine gun, the MP5 is less accurate but comes equipped with a silencer. A good stealth weapon.

M4 Carbine: Standard assault rifle. The M4 offers a high rate of fire and reasonable accuracy over medium ranges.

AG36 Assault Rifle: Assault rifle with parabolic grenade launcher. Useful for lobbing grenades long distances over walls and obstacles, and for engaging in mid-range combat. Night vision capable.

OICW Advanced Assault Rifle: Advanced assault rifle with integrated scope and flat trajectory HE munitions. A great assault weapon for mid- to long-range combat in open terrain. Night vision capable.

AW50 Sniper Rifle: Equipped with a futuristic scope device, this weapon has a very low ROF, but causes massive amounts of damage to organic targets. Its extreme range and accuracy balance its slow reload speeds and the rather-limited availability of ammunition. Night vision capable.

M249 Saw Machine Gun: Infantry assault machine gun. Puts a lot of metal in the air, but at the cost of accuracy.

Rocket Launcher: Slow and heavy weapon capable of dealing massive damage at long ranges.

Frag grenades: These grenades blow up, deform terrain, and kill things.

Flashbang grenades: These grenades create smoke and noise that irritates and distracts enemies.

Smoke grenades: These release large amounts of smoke that can be used to hide the player and obscure enemy sight.

Mortar (mounted): Creates massive explosive damage at very long range.

Vulcan Minigun (mounted): Extreme rate of fire and low accuracy, but causes a great deal of damage.

Q: How many weapons can I carry around in Far Cry?
A: At any given time the player can only carry around four weapons, making your choice of weapons important.

Q: What sort of vehicles will I encounter and be able to use in Far Cry?
A: Some of the methods of transportation are:

Buggy: Light, fast, armed, and hard to break. The buggy is a fast way to get across almost any kind of terrain.

4WD Vehicle: Heavier, stronger, more powerful, and better armed than the buggy. The 4WD Vehicle is designed for getting a lot of people somewhere quickly and safely.

Inflatable Boat: Skim across the water in this lightweight vessel. Quiet, sturdy, and easy to operate, it is perfect for moving through the water quickly and quietly.

Patrol Boat: Fast, sturdy, and armed with a .50 cal MG, useful for getting across contested water in a hurry.

Hang Glider: A lightweight glider used by the mercenaries as emergency transportation.

Q: How many levels are included in the single-player mode?
A: There are 20 levels in the single-player campaign.

Q: How many hours of gameplay does Far Cry have?
A: The single-player missions can be completed in 15-20 hours, yet every objective can be approached in different ways, making the Far Cry game highly replayable.

Q: How do I open the command console?
A: Once Far Cry is running and you're in the Main Menu, press the ~ or ² key, which is right above the Tab key.

Q: How do I load custom-created maps?
A: Unpack the downloaded map into its own folder within the \Levels folder of the Far Cry installation folder. In the Main Menu of Far Cry, bring down the command console and type "\map mapname" without the quotes.

Q: How do I find out a whole list of console commands?
A: When in the server console, type "\dumpcommandsvars" without the quotes.

Q: How do I display frames per second (fps)?
A: In the console, type "\r_displayinfo 1".

Q: Is there any way to "quick save"?
A: Yes, type the following command in the console when you want to save: "\save_game 1". To load it, type "\load_game 1". The number 1 represents the save name.

Q: What is the Sandbox editor?
A: Sandbox is the editor that allows you to create your own single-player and multiplayer maps. The Sandox editor's unique, intuitive design allows you to easily create and test your maps in real-time, within the editor.

Q: Where can I find the manual for the Sandbox editor?
A: The comprehensive 180-page manual can be downloaded in pdf format from the following location: ftp://ftp.ubisoft.com/games/farcry/manual/Sandbox_Editor_User_Manual_v1.1.zip

Q: How do I make in-game Far Cry screenshots?
A: While in-game, press F12 to make a screenshot. You can find the screenshots in .jpg format in the main folder where you installed Far Cry.

Q: What is AI Auto Balance?
A: This function will automatically adjust the difficulty level that you started at according to your progress through the level. If you die multiple times at a certain point in the Far Cry game, the auto balance will adjust the difficulty mostly through the enemies' alertness, accuracy, aggression, etc. The adjustment is continuous; if enemies survive longer in active combat (enemies shooting at you and you shooting at them), then the difficulty will lessen since you are having trouble killing them. If, however, you kill enemies quickly and they hardly get a shot out, the difficulty goes up.

Note: The auto balancing works more accurately in the patched version, so be sure you have downloaded and installed the latest patch.

Q: Some of my mouse buttons don't allow me to do the things I have them bound to. Why not?
A: If your mouse is plugged in to a USB port, change it over. The USB port may be causing a conflict.
