Pre-loading of the Counter Strike : Source beta to cyber cafés begins today. On Wednesday, this first phase of the beta will open and the game will be playable at all cyber cafes that subscribe to the Valve Cyber Café Program. Later this month, the beta will be extended to owners of Counter Strike ™: Condition Zero™ and ATI Fulfillment Coupon holders.
This beta serves as a compatibility test of the Source engine as we near the completion of development on Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source. During this limited-time beta, issues can be reported using the in-game bug-reporting tool. In addition any crashes will automatically generate a report back to Valve’s bug database. We thank everyone for their participation, and we hope Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source live up to your expectations.

Counter Strike Beta 7.7.2004
Starting later this summer, Valve will be conducting a limited-time beta of Counter-Strike: Source via Steam. The beta will first be open to subscribers of the Valve Cyber Café Program, and then extended to owners of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. The next installment of the world’s number 1 online action game, Counter-Strike: Source blends CS’s intense teamplay with the advanced technology of Valve’s Source engine.

CZ, Counter Strike Source Update Released 6.15.2004
An update for Counter Strike :CZ and Counter-Strike has just been released. Steam will update itself automatically when you restart. Here is a list of the changes:
COUNTER STRIKE : CONDITION ZERO:
Added updated player models under CS
COUNTER - STRIKE:
Added crosshair customization (color, size, opacity)
Corpses fade out with cl_corpse_stay
Improved player turning right hitbox behavior
Improved brass ejection behavior
hud_draw 0 doesn't remove blackout
Scope blackout drawn in software mode
Flashlight sound no longer masks weapon firing sounds
Improved text behavior in top-right corner of observer mode
Round timer doesn't re-appear until the round restarts when the bomb is defused or explodes
Improved hitbox behavior
