Posted On 10:45 AM 3 January 2005Prague, Czech Republic, Dec. 28, 2004 - StringData is proud to announce Everown, a competitive tactical action game currently in development for PCs by StringDatas team Level 12 Paladins. Everown is designed for small to medium scale player vs. player battles and will deliver a brand new approach on PvP combat, favoring wit and reason over mere reflexes and twitch skills. Among numerous other features, StringData is hoping to accomplish this no small feat by providing players with many diverse ways of eliminating their enemies that are not based on the quality of their aim, but rather of their tactical reasoning and evaluation v including, but not limited to: melee and missile combat, stealth play and ambushes, laying and disarming traps, and extended use of an arsenal of poisons and hallucinogens. Additionally, the ability to position your camera anywhere above the battlefield is hoped to further enhance the tactical experience and level of cooperation between each teams members.
We of Level 12 Paladins are bonded by a deep passion for player vs. player combat in MMORPGs, comments Ondrej Dobias, Designer of Everown, yet continuously frustrated by the need to perform ever-so-repetitive actions related to obtaining the right equipment and climbing up the leveling treadmill, obstructing our path to what we love the most - battling against a sentient human being in a highly tactical way, where one does not win merely by precision of his aim, but rather through making the right decisions at the right time. Our game, therefore, is an elaboration of the essence of such battles, and we hope to interest not only passionate MMORPG PvPers, but also the fans of action games that prefer contesting using their mental acuity rather than just the quality of their physical reflexes.
Everown is scheduled for release in 2005 and as a game strongly focused on multiplayer will support both LAN and Internet play, with its tactical focus enabling it to be played even in high-ping environments, such as on 56k modems or together with your friends oversea.
